Breathing Life into the Workplace: Tropical Ceramic Art

In 2019, I had the opportunity to work on a vibrant environmental branding project for Diageo’s office in Singapore. The brief was clear yet inspiring: bring their brand ethos—“Celebrate Life, Every Day, Everywhere”—into the physical workspace in a way that felt authentic, joyful, and culturally resonant.

One of the most memorable elements of the project was the tropical-themed artwork I designed for the pantry area. This wasn’t just a decorative piece—it was a visual anchor for the entire space, printed directly onto ceramic surfaces to create a lasting impression.

Concept

The concept drew inspiration from Southeast Asia’s lush natural beauty. I wanted the artwork to evoke warmth, vitality, and a sense of escape, like stepping into a tropical garden during your coffee break. Bold foliage, vibrant colors, and organic shapes came together to form a composition that felt both energizing and serene.

Choosing ceramic as the medium was a deliberate decision. It offered durability, texture, and a premium finish that elevated the design beyond typical wall graphics. The result was a tactile, immersive experience that invited employees to pause, recharge, and reconnect with the brand’s spirit.

A Space That Celebrates Life

This project reminded me how powerful environmental design can be when it’s rooted in storytelling. By blending art, material, and message, we transformed a workplace corner into a celebration of life, every day, everywhere.
